Why newborn photography?
Welcoming a baby into your life is the most amazing and delightful moment worth to be captured with a photo shoot to remember and share with loved ones for decades to come telling the story of a baby's introduction to family and the world. The first few days of your little one’s life are full of excitement, beauty, and full of innocence and LucMar Photography will document this amazing event in your life in a unique and special way.
A month before your due date (typically after 20 week scan) will guarantee your spot in my calendar, contact us to set a telephone appointment to discuss the upcoming photography session for your “soon-to-arrive” baby. You will be asked to fill out a questionnaire, so we can tailor the session around your need. We will need to know of any special poses that are important to you and decide if you need to provide any unique props for the session. Schedule your newborn session in the first 10 days after birth, while the baby is still quite sleepy and can be moved around and positioned more naturally. Once babies discover the joys of stretching, it is challenging to get them to curl up in those adorable newborn positions. Studio newborn sessions are focused on making the baby look sweet and tender with different poses in the studio. We will use blankets, wraps, hats, and headbands to create these beautiful images with your adorable baby.
When should I book my newborn session?
What to bring? How to dress baby?
Bring plenty of diapers, baby wipes, bottles of breast milk or formula if the baby takes the bottle, a dummy, and two blankets, along with any other items you wish to be included in your baby’s photo shoot. Because accidents happen, it is also wise to bring an extra change of clothing for yourself. A spare changing outfit for you in case of accidents, read the "What to expect" section for details.
Unless you have a special outfit you want to use for the family pictures, please dress the baby in something easy to undress, an sleepsuit will be ideal.

What to expect
The session will take place in my home studio.
LucMar Photography has plenty of experience working with newborns and knows you should always expect the unexpected. Pee, poop, and spit up will happen, and it is likely to be deposited on props, blankets, the parent, or even on the photographer, please bring a change for you just in case. Don’t panic or be embarrassed. It’s a normal part of newborn photography sessions. Baby will also have fussy moments and that is just fine. You won’t be rushed through your session and will have plenty of time to cuddle, change, feed, and relax your little one. A newborn session can take a few hours to allow for all the moods and needs of your baby, and the studio will be kept warmer than usual for the baby’s comfort and safety.
PARENTS & SIBLINGS If you want to have some newborn poses including parents or siblings, choose solid (pastel) color, white is always a win and coordinated clothing. It’s important to let the baby shine in every image, so avoid clothing that can take the attention of the family’s star of the day. Avoid busy patterns, cartoon characters, letters numbers, and logos. If Mom wants a skin-on-skin image with the baby, a strapless or bandeau top works very well. It is also best to have siblings (especially those under 3) attend only when it is time for them to participate in the session. You can bring them at the beginning of the session and dad can take them home or for a walk/soft play.
Is it safe for baby to wear outfits after other babies?
Absolutely, hygiene is always a priority. Every item that has been worn or touched will be washed or dry disinfected.
After each and every session studio floor is always disinfected with DETOL. Cleaning and hygiene are kept at the highest level.
Investment
A £100 non-refundable booking fee is due on booking to secure your space and includes:
A 3-4 hour baby-led session
Use of my props and outfits
Family and siblings included
The session fee is non-refundable but is going towards your chosen package.
Before the session, we will chat via email or phone to discuss your package choice and your expectations and preferences for the images.
Wall art and photo albums are available, please ask for prices.
I do not offer RAW (unedited) images.
Additional images on top of your chosen package are charged £20 for each digital image or £25 for each digital image with a matching print.
For sessions at your home, an extra fee is applied depending on the distance.
* A minumum of £300 order for walll art is required in order to benefit the discount.
